Yountville Vice Mayor Lewis Chilton to Run for Napa County Supervisor

Chilton to challenge incumbent 3rd District Supervisor Diane Dillon in 2014 race.

Yountville Vice Mayor Lewis Chilton will run for Napa County Supervisor in 2014 to represent the county’s 3rd District.

Chilton, who has served on the Yountville Town Council since 2007 and has served as the town’s Vice Mayor since 2010, will challenge incumbent 3rd District Supervisor Diane Dillon.

Napa County’s 3rd District stretches from Calistoga down to the northern tip of Napa and includes St. Helena, Angwin, Deer Park, Pope Valley, Chiles Valley, northern Berryessa, Rutherford, Oakville and Yountville

“In talking with many residents across the Third District, there is a strong desire for accessible leadership that will work to bring people together to solve the pressing issues facing Napa County,” said Chilton.

“I will bring a new focus on the issues of protecting the rural character of Napa County, supporting our agricultural economy, maintaining our roads and improving traffic, supporting education and helping seniors & working families find affordable housing,” Chilton added.

Chilton cited his credentials, including business and political experience, as evidence he is prepared to positively represent the Third District and continue the accessible leadership style he’s known for in Yountville.

As a vice mayor and councilmember, Chilton voted to approve the modernization of the joint Town/Veterans Home sewer plant including a water-saving measure to recycle all treated wastewater for agricultural irrigation, established a zoning overlay to protect senior housing, financed and constructed a resident-focused $13 million community center and helped create an approved General Plan Housing Element to construct affordable housing units within town limits while upholding the small-town character of Yountville.
