POLICE LOG UPDATE: Former Vintage High Strength Coach Released

Brock Daniels, arrested Thursday by Napa police for allegedly violating terms of his bail release agreement, was released later that day with no new charges filed.

CORRECTION: Napa Police Lt. Debbie Peecook's name was misspelled in an update Monday. It has been corrected below.

UPDATE: 3 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013.

Former Vintage High School strength coach Brock Daniels, arrested Thursday for allegedly violating his bail agreement, was released several hours later by Napa law enforcement officials with no new charges filed, according to Napa Police Lt. Debbie Peecook.

Peecook declined comment on the nature of his arrest and release, except to say that no new charges were filed.

Some posts from Patch readers in this article thread and on Facebook allege that the arrest was a mistake -- and that police were acting on a false tip. Daniels is prohibited from using texts or social media while out on bail.

Peecook said the incident is still being investigated. She declined further comment.

Former Vintage High School strength coach was re-arrested on Thursday, April 4, 2013, on suspicion of violating the terms of his bail release agreement.

on suspicion of the alleged sex crimes.

Information on his arrest Thursday did not include the background of his original alleged offenses.

UPDATE: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013.

A 26-year-old Napa man was re-arrested at about 1:15 p.m. Thursday after police allege he was using his cell phone, in violation of the term of his release.

According to the report, Napa Police Investigations received information that Brock Daniels was in violation of his O.R. agreement.

Daniels is a former coach at Vintage High School. He is expected to stand trial on allegations of sexual offenses.

Daniels' agreement includes terms that he is to “no texting by phone or computer, not to go on social media sites including Facebook and to submit to search and seizure.”

On April 4 at about 1:15 p.m., Daniels was stopped in his vehicle on Harkness and Sierra.

An NPD Investigator collected evidence, his cellular phone from Daniels that proves he was in violation of his O.R. Agreement. Daniels was arrested and booked at NCDC.

A 40-year-old Napa man was arrested after an alleged robbery at Home Depot in Napa.

Ian James O'Connor was taken into custody at around 6 p.m. March 28 on suspicion of robbery, burglary, battery and resisting a police officer.

Police said the incident began when officers were dispatched to Home Depot to investigate the report of a robbery that had just occurred.

The suspect (later identified as Ian O’Connor) demanded money from the cashier. The clerk was afraid, so O’Connor opened the cash register and took an undisclosed amount of money.

O’Connor fled the scene on foot. He attempted to take someone`s bicycle but was unsuccessful. O’Connor fled the area eastbound through the parking lot toward Starbucks.

O’Connor went to an apartment complex in the 200 block of Soscol and entered an occupied apartment.

He began to yell at the resident about a person named “George.” The resident did not know O’Connor and told him to leave or he would call the police.

O’Connor then attempted to strike the resident, but the resident ran into a bedroom, occupied by is two children and barricaded the door. Another resident of the apartment ran out of to get help.

At this time O’Connor went into an adjoining bedroom within the same apartment that was occupied by a child. The original resident in the nearby bedroom heard the child crying and went to that bedroom to find O’Connor holding the child. The resident asked O’Connor to give the child to him and O’Connor complied.   

Officers were checking the apartment complex for the suspect (O’Connor) of the robbery. At this time, a resident flagged down the officers and indicated a man was running through the apartment grounds and ran into an apartment.

Officers went to apartment and could hear arguing from within. Officers entered the apartment and saw a subject who matched the description of the suspect who robbed Home Depot.

The resident of the apartment was yelling at the subject to leave his residence. Officers recognized this individual from prior contacts as Ian O’Connor. Officer gave O’Connor numerous commands to place his hands behind his back and he refused. O’Connor began to advance on the officer, at which time a taser was deployed and O’Connor was taken into custody.

O’Connor was transported and booked at Napa County Department of Corrections.

A 42 year old Napa man was arrested on suspicion of willful cruelty to a child and DUI.

Gerardo Gonzalez was taken into custody just before 8 p.m. March 29 in the vicinity of Hartson Street and Old Sonoma Road.

According to Napa police, Gonzalez was stopped by an officer for erratic driving as he drove his vehicle in the area of Harston Street and Old Sonoma Road.

Once stopped, the officer contacted Gonzalez and noticed he displayed signs of being intoxicated. In the passenger areas fo the vehicle were Gonzalez’s two children (15 yrs. and 8 yrs.).

The officer evaluated Gonzalez’s sobriety and determined Gonzalez was impaired while driving. Gonzalez was arrested and transported to Napa County Department of Corrections where he was booked.

The children were given a ride home and turned over to their mother.

A 29 year old Napa man was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine.

Donald Jinks was taken into custody at about 9 p.m. March 30 n the vicinity of Brown and Oak streets in Napa.

Police said Jinks was stopped by officers for riding his bicycle without proper lighting equipment in the area of Brown St. and Oak St.

Jinks consented to a voluntary search and officers found a methamphetamine pipe stuffed into the waistband of his pants. In the bowl of the pipe was a usable amount of methamphetamine. 

Jinks was arrested and transported to Napa County Department of Corrections, where he was booked.

A 41 year old Napa woman was arrested on suspicion of battery and making threats.

Sarah Joel Stamm was taken into custody just after 12 noon on March 31 in the 700 block of Pueblo Avenue in Napa.

Police said an officer responded to an assault that just occurred at a residence in the 700 block of Pueblo Ave., with both parties still present.

Officers arrived and contacted the victim. The victim stated she is a caregiver for Sarrah Stamm. During an argument between the two, Stamm shoved the victim into a wall and threaten to kill her. The victim made a citizen’s arrest on Stamm.

Officers took custody of Stamm and transported her to Napa County Department of Corrections, where she was booked.

An 18-year-old Vallejo man was arrested just before 2 p.m. March 31 on suspicion of willful cruelty to a child, battery of a spouse, probation violation, destroying a wireless communication device, false imprisonment and resisting arrest.

Carlos Israel Medina was taken into custody in the 1100 block of Shetler Avenue, Napa.

The incident began when officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of Shetler Ave. for an assault in progress.

Officers arrived on scene and contacted the victim, who indicated her boyfriend and the father of her child, Carlos Medina, came to her house and appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

When she questioned him about his sobriety, he became agitated and pushed her into the residence. Median then began demanding money from her. She told him no, because the money was for their child.

Medina became more agitated, to the point the victim became scared and attempted to call the police on her cell phone. Medina grabbed the phone and disconnected the call. Medina then pushed the victim to the bed and then onto the floor. About this time the police arrived.

Medina was taken into custody and placed into the back seat of a patrol car. While en route to the jail, Medina became agitated and began to bang his head against the screen of the patrol car.

The officer stopped the car prevent Medina from harming himself. When the officer opened the back door of the patrol car, Medina sprang from the back seat and attempted to run from the officer. Medina was instantly caught and was secured into the back of the patrol car.

Medina was booked into Napa County Department of Corrections without further incident.
