Some of my earliest memories are of my Dad saying, "I wonder where this goes?" He'd crank the steering wheel and off we'd go down some backroad, my Mom rolling her eyes, my Dad eagerly peering around the next bend, and the four of us kids asking, "What's that?  What's that?" 
That early-engendered curiosity serves as a cure for cabin fever now that I'm retired after 30+ years of teaching. Peregrinations, jaunts, explorations, excursions, or Winnie-the-Pooh's "expotitions"-- call them what you will, my friends, sister and I thrive on exploring new places, and invariably come away with more questions than answers.
