On display are an 1859 Jeffer Hand Pumper from when the downtown Fire Department was called Pioneer Company 1 1931. At the time, the Tannery's Fire Brigade, along with other hosing companies, worked on a volunteer basis. It was in July of 1906 that the City of Napa incorporated the latter-day Fire Department.
The Napa Fire Department maintained its equipment so well that it exceeded national standards, and lasted well beyond expectation. The Napa Firefighter Museum continues in that tradition in preserving Napa's history to this day. This is a must-see destination for firefighters from all over the world. Admission is free.
