The Oxbow Preserve is yet another project for improving California's rivers and parkways. It is supported by the 2002More Resources Bond, California Clean Water, Clean Air, Safe Neighborhoods funds and the Coastal Protection Act of 2002. Named after its "oxbow' curve shape, the park was in development for a good length of time prior to opening for public use in October 2009. The shrubs and trees are native to the area, and native life is noted and observed. The 13-acre land is open for exploration. Dogs are allowed, as long as they are on leashes. The park is open from sunrise to sunset.
