He is a third generation grower with the conviction that making the extra effort to withhold chemicals protects the longevity and richness of the soil's terroir. Moreover, it yields incomparable results in grape flavor. Bartolucci is a current member of CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers).
The Madonna estate vineyard is located in the distinguished Carneros region, with elevation equal to sea level and 1000 feet proximity to the western hills. The Haire and Diablo soils on the Madonna estate have a high clay content, which holds water well and is ripe for cool climate varieties, like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. Varietals planted are Chardonnay (71 acres), Pinot Noir (32 acres), Riesling (10 acres), Pinot Grigio (8 acres), Gewurztraminer (8 acres), Merlot (6 acres), Cabernet Sauvignon (6 acres), Barbera (4.5 acres), Dolcetto (4 acres) and Muscat Canelli (1 acre).
