I can understand a knife or spoon falling in the pot of sauce and getting "lost"Read More temporarily. I cannot understand it getting put in assembled enchiladas!
Sandi Melia April 17, 2014 at 03:18 pm
WTH? You have got to be crazy letting her on the plane. Oops forgot the cutlery in my enchiladas?!?Read More No sorry, that's a BIG no enchilada in my opinion. For whatever reason it was there, far too lenient for real!

Bill Dodd should not go any further in politics . He's not a fare man or a man of his word. We alsoRead More could use some new blood with new ideas instead of the same ole same stuff.....

Thank you, Amy. I've also had a very hard time figuring out how to confront this issue. It isRead More difficult when it becomes apparent that it just isn't nonsense anymore, it's dangerous nonsense. People will literally die if the anti-vaxx crowd is successful at convincing people not to vaccinate their kids. Potentially a lot of people. When you combine that with the stupidity, outright lies and paranoia displayed by celebrity spokes-people like Jenny McCarthy it becomes really hard to maintain ones composure (oops, I just lost mine). I suppose it's best to treat everyone as one would treat a good friend who is skeptical of modern medicine and scared for their children. As far as the black helicopter people go, I'm not sure what can be done to convince them, since they invariably believe that any data not conforming to their beliefs must the due to a conspiracy of some kind. I've known a lot of publicly funded scientists over the years, and the idea that they could all somehow be conspiring to harm public health in order to enrich corporations is ludicrous and insulting. Part of the problem is that as a result of reasonable skepticism of expert opinion, many people have decided that there is no such thing. Or, even worse, they pick people who have zero expertise but who are good at manipulating their fears. So now we have a huge population of scientifically illiterate people who no longer trust doctors, but are willing to put all their faith in internet scam artists like the "Health Ranger". This can't end well.

Costco makes millions off of supplements. Flip through their monthly magazine. Every other page isRead More some supplement for which people have no need. Not only are we a nation of consumers, we are a nation of gullible consumers.

I received my case of measels in 1967 in the ARMY at Fort Sill, Oaklahoma. When they startedRead More offering for my children I chose the imunization for them and now Public Schools Require them in California. Home Schooling by anti-vaxx parents will be the first ones to catch the bugs from "out of state" or "out of country" (Like UC Berkley with 14,000 of them) anti-vaxx or could not get the Vaxx.. TB is on the rise from the "out of county" rich kids at our colleges also. TB was eradicated in the U.S. 30 years ago but now it is back and we no longer give imunizations for it.

$183K? Valero made at least ten times that in profit during the violation period. This simply looksRead More like the BAAQMD needed some extra funding and tapped an easy source. $100 tickets from fireplace violators just take too long to add up!
The term "shoulder tap" refers to the method used by minors to illegally obtain alcohol. Patch file photo.

Post their names, just like "johns" who solicit prostitutes.

I doubt that it would carry the same shame and stigma. The drinking age should be lowered anyway toRead More 18.

Maybe might want to skip it this year until the drought resolves. What a waste of water. Should be aRead More way to pump this back into the aquifer at least.
Tom Davidson January 21, 2014 at 12:29 pm
You can't fight unused intelligence, now 'martyr' how manipulated or insufficient it may be.
Buzz Avery January 21, 2014 at 07:22 pm
The stupidity is amazing. Since the Register never practices investigative reporting, the public isRead More lulled into believing all goes well in Napa. Flushing hydrants could wait a year but that's logical, so if you're waiting for sane leadership, you live in the wrong city. Napa is "Pleasantville", and the happiest city in the United States. What could go wrong.

They always leave out that you can cook food on a BBQ or open wood pit. So it is O.K. If you areRead More cooking. So BBQ away and put on a pot of beans in your fireplace if you want. This is all legal but they won't say that. Enjoy the day
Tom Davidson January 18, 2014 at 09:57 pm
Napa's solution is to flush good water through fire hydrants out into the streets and down the stormRead More drains, beginning on Tuesday. You can't make this stuff up. They are truly that smart. They probably hope that tourists will bring water with them, as tourists are the answer to ALL of our problems. Duh.....
Prickly Pear January 20, 2014 at 08:46 am
Well, tourists will be a permanent source of revenue for many, so there is no end to that. VisitRead More Napa Valley has done a great job at promoting this unique place. However, yes, how all these hotels and wineries are going to take this drought remains to be seen. Regardless, this is a poop situation. I hate seeing this sun everyday, dang it.
Buzz Avery January 20, 2014 at 09:35 am
I spoke with a Napa Council member who told me since we had a year of reserves, there shouldn't be aRead More problem. What a lousy lack of foresight. This is the same council that negotiated away some of our water rights to Napa Pipe development, and continues committing water to new development for the sake of profit-making and taking. I worry our Republican council is part of their fellow party members' mindset that if a problem is ignored, it will go away.

From one veteran to another, thank you Mike for all you do.
AMERICAN January 17, 2014 at 03:47 pm
The problem is, nothing will get done. There are more than 700,00 veterans' claims being stored inRead More cardboard boxes, and called the APPEALS BACKLOG! Each veteran's claim is DENIED the minute the VA receives it. Then it is placed in the APPEALS BACKLOG. The VA gets by with this because Congress does not require them to count the claims that are in APPEALS as part of the backlog! Meanwhile, our injured, sick and wounded warriors are being denied the medical compensation and medical care they need. These illnesses and injuries were caused by the veterans service to our country and to all of us. So, why are we allowing these rich, greedy VA executives, lawyers and claims processors to laugh at our AMERICAN HEROES. Why are we letting these bastards mock are veterans with their " DENY, DENY, UNTIL YOU DIE!"

bluecollardoctor January 17, 2014 at 10:20 am
Wow a trip to Davis! As an avid Bicyclist, Motorist, and sometimes a pedestrian, we need toRead More engineer a system that separates these modes of transportation so they can co exist safely. This means among other things the Vine Trail.
bluecollardoctor January 17, 2014 at 10:24 am
As an aside, that list of elected officials reads for the most part like a rogues list of the mostRead More dangerous politicians in Napa County. Most are a direct threat to the Napa Valley Lifestyle as "we" know and love it. Bicycling is part of the aesthetic of the NV, I hope they can put aside their heinous political agendas to improve safety for all.

Ms. Bud and Mr. Grape have already been seen together on multiple occasions in wine country. They'llRead More get along fine.
Tom Davidson January 16, 2014 at 05:54 am
Mr. Grape has Media Relations contacts from all across the country to tell us how fair and open heRead More is in his relationships with Miss Bud, yet Miss Bud is still having to fight laws just to allow her to come out in one location in this county on a limited basis. Yet Mr.Grape is widely and openly toasted by leaders all over this county and can be found in stores and restaurants. Perhaps Mr. Grape is happy in their relationship, but Miss Bud has to circulate petitions in a fight just to find one place to be seen legally in Mr. Grape's home town, and it'll take a doctor's prescription. Mr. Grape is cheating on Miss Bud all over the place and has people all over the country telling us how fair he is to Miss Bud. He certainly is doing well at keeping her "in her place", but is he really happy ? At least SOMEBODY will be happy with that relationship, but as it is now Mr. Grape can marry Mr. Cheese and Miss Bud can't even legally be seen in public, let alone be seen with Mr. Grape. That seems so 1950-ish.
Alexander Simenstad January 17, 2014 at 03:18 am
Ms bud has more worth than mr grape. Ms bud can help citizens of napa economically and medicinally.Read More Mr grape causes domestic disputes. Ms bud soothes the soul. Too many wineries and vineyards in napa. Mr grape is wasteful. The cannabis plant converts more co2 into oxygen than trees or mr grape.
