I like how our judicial system rules (and other major laws and policies) are decided by voters whoRead More couldn't find Iraq on a globe, can't balance their checkbooks, believe the world is 10,000 years old, and think 48÷2(9+3) = 2.
KMA June 29, 2014 at 01:27 pm
The laws are not decided by votes, unless it is an initiative, and then like Prop 8- it will beRead More overturned by a bunch of liberals .The Congress or Legislature writes and votes on the laws- the people vote these guys in, but not the measures themselves. This is a Republic, not a democracy. So before being critical of others, look in the mirror.

I refer to this as the illegal alien anti-deportation act. Identity theft? No problem, noRead More deporation. Welfare fraud? Please be nice in the future, etc.

I like with Marcus. We recently drove up to Oregon to look at some colleges and visit friends. WeRead More actually saw a Sign along the I 5 that said welcome to the state of Jefferson. Wimpy though the sign was it smacked of people voted against their own best interests.
Lynn Moore July 21, 2014 at 09:13 am
Totally off the subject: But why is this online newsletter called the AgouraHills Patch? I thoughRead More this was Imperial Beach.
Penny Arévalo July 21, 2014 at 01:49 pm
This story got posted statewide, as it's a statewide story. But for commenting purposes, you areRead More directed back to the original Patch which first posted it, which is in Agoura Hills.

13 days after the election and they are still counting mail in ballots? What sort of technology isRead More Napa using? They can count the ballots when they receive them not two weeks later

this boy will do nothing . look at the republican party, when they were in what jobs did they bringRead More in and stayed ? that party shut down many state hospitals, so now we have sick folks running around, and what have they done for the VETS that come back from war ? then who the hell is this boy ? no one in the BAY AREA and up the coast do not know of this boy . Oh well Jerry will do 4 more years and retire if he does not die before then .
c5 June 10, 2014 at 06:59 pm
Kashkari will get smoked, it doesn't matter what he says or does. I will not vote for Brown but heRead More will win going away. Brown's legacy will end up being not enough water storage, a high speed rail system that goes nowhere and leaves a huge hole in the budget, the highest taxes and least friendly place to do business in the country, and a bankrupt fiscal situation with massive unfunded state employee benefits and pensions.
Ken Briggs June 11, 2014 at 03:58 am
but who is this boy ? still no one has seen him in the north part of the state , no one has seen himRead More in Clearlake or Lakeport, Ukiah, Eureka area , so who is this guy . it is June 11th and where is this guy ?

This is why there can be no ability to control costs in our health care in the US. Greedy lawyersRead More wanting to "cash-in" on every medical event that results in a bad outcome for patients. We can not afford to use our health care system as a "get rich quick" scheme for lawyers. We need "no-fault" medical compensation for adverse outcomes. States (and countries) that already have that in place have done well for patients and have done well for their health care systems so that all the dollars spent actually go toward health care. Medical malpractice is a scam that acts to greatly benefit lawyers, and rarely truly provides enough compensation for those injured in medical events, so that all their needs can be provided for. Medical malpractice needs to end in the US! We can not afford to drain more millions of dollars away from actual medical care and real compensation for patients that experience adverse events. We need compensation for patients to occur without lawyers getting rich. Physician negligence needs to be addressed by licensing boards.

Jeez a Louise! Only in California. Hey, while we're at it, lets add Landscapers. If a landscaperRead More screws up your lawn, he's liable for $100,000. (Minimum).

Lawyers are happy, health care costs will go up, and doctors will be more cautious around usingRead More judgement on treatment. All good news...

Napa District Attorney Gary Lieberstein is seeking a fifth term! Napa District Attorney GaryRead More Lieberstein and some of his attorneys had threatened prosecution on me and my family with insufficient evidence! It is time for a new District Attorney and his name is Mr. Doug Pharr! I also have a Blog Of Mr. Lieberstein! http://napadistrictattorneygarylieberstein.blogspot.com/ Perfecto Bauer Garcia

Liberstein dose not work for or with the people of Napa County. But against them. He is a politicalRead More climber and is using Napa to get to a greater career for him self. He is out for one thing. Himself. Doug Pharr is a man truly committed to the people. It's time for a new DA. Liberstein. Has never been for the people. He had been a waste of our time.
Navi January 12, 2014 at 03:00 pm
"...However, I work for the people of Napa County, not law enforcement, and on rare occasionRead More the interests of justice as determined by my office do not intersect with their interests." What exactly does this mean? I thought law enforcement and the D.A. worked hand in hand.

Mr. Kensok is a welcome addition to the race, in my opinion. Of course, it is the DA's office whichRead More determines whether or not to bring cases to court to begin with. They are the final say. If weak arrests are being pushed to court by the DA's office, that's definitely an issue with leadership.
Unfiltered Steve Simoneau December 28, 2013 at 11:11 am
Mike, that is the dismissal rate he talks about. The DA's office doesn't have an unlimited budgetRead More and will dismiss charges that would consume funds needed for important cases. Arresting officers will often pad on additional charges in an effort to make a suspect take a plea deal for one charge to have the rest dismissed. This tactic creates statistics that make the DA's office appear to be lenient when they are actually saving money by avoiding costly trials. If the DA's office took everything to trial with few dismissals and lost then Mr. Kensok would be saying the DA is wasting money with frivolous cases and had a disappointing conviction rate. POLITICS!!!
Mark Harrison January 22, 2014 at 07:40 am
First of all, the dismissal and acquittal rate has nothing to do with "padded" policeRead More reports. The DA charges offenders not the police officers. Cases are brought to the a filing deputy DA who at that point makes a determination what charges to file if any. Its not about an unlimited budget, its about justice. Over zealous prosecutors pursue cases knowing they can't prove it. The DA is probably the most powerful person in the county government. If the statistics demonstrate they are loosing cases at trial, then something has to change. Tom Is that person. His moral and ethical compass is absolutely in check. He has successfully prosecuted some of the most violent criminal in the state. He realizes his job as a prosecutor is not just to prosecute offenders, but to make sure justice is being served.

Look at the photo. See his hand raised up? Public Speaking Body Language 101: "Look at my hand,Read More not at my facial expressions that will tell when I'm not being truthful." Hands belong on the podium, never higher than the chest so the audience stays focused on speech and not on distracting motions. Good thing he has tenure, otherwise he'd need a professional handler.
Janice December 17, 2013 at 12:20 pm
Yep his time is up!! We need new blood in this office. They get in and think they should just beRead More there... well till they want to leave, ah not!!!

As a victim of crime I can say that the victim advocates he employs are very ineffective.

Napa District Attorney Gary Lieberstein and some of his attorneys tried to prosecute me and myRead More family on false charges! I have all legal documents to support my comment on Mr. Lieberstein. My blog address is http://napadistrictattorneygarylieberstein.blogspot.com By Perfecto Bauer Garcia

I am delighted Doug Pharr is taking on this challenge. He is a brilliant attorney and truly caresRead More about the community and his family. I will be donating to his campaign. Doug is a fair and honorable man. Good luck and thank you!

Yep we do need " change" anytime someone stays in office 4 too long it's becomes a problemRead More of sorts. To cozy with elected officials and a it's my way or the High way attitude..
