WEEK AHEAD: Hanukkah, Christmas Trees, Lighted Tractor Parade in Calistoga

Your Napa Week week of Dec. 2 through Dec. 8, 2013.

Aside from the coming freezing cold snap on Wednesday, this first week of December will be intense for other reasons as well.

With the holidays and festivities kicking up to high gear, plus everyone trying to get things done by the end of the year, it's a full-out push to 2014. Check the Napa Valley Patch calendar to keep yourself straight.

Here are some highlights.

Tuesday, Dec. 3

Waiting for Guffman, mockumentary on community theater, 7 p.m. St. Helena Public Library.

Yountville Town Council will conduct a public hearing on a controversial expansion of Yountville Community Church into the adjacent residential area at their meeting at 6 p.m. To read the Yountville Sun's account of the story, click here.

Chabad of Napa Valley will conduct a Hanukkah menorah lighting ceremony and celebration at 5 p.m. in downtown Napa. The event, at The Shops at Napa Center (next to McCaulous) on First Street, includes a performance by singer Ari Lesser.

Napa County Supervisors meet at 9 a.m. in Napa.

Napa County Supervisors have joint meeting with Yountville Town Council at 4 p.m. in Yountville.

Napa City Council will tackle whether to go ahead and bust the city's medical pot ordinance at its meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Napa City Hall. The council also meets at 3:30 p.m. on other matters.

Speed-Date with a Publishing Professional, 6 p.m. Napa Bookmine, Pearl Street, Napa.

Wednesday, Dec. 4

Queen of the Valley Medical Center, annual tree lighting, 4 p.m. 1000 Trancas St., Napa. Santa will be there.

Grand Hand Gallery, Guys Shopping Night, 5 p.m., Napa.

Wydown Winter Wonderland, inaugural event benefits St. Helena Public Schools, 5 p.m. Wydown Hotel, St. Helena. Includes Santa and tree lighting.

Thursday, Dec. 5

A Rockapella Christmas, pop singing group, Napa Valley Opera House, Napa. 8 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 6

"Christmas With the Crawfords," 7 p.m. and Well-Strung, 5:30 p.m. Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater, Yountville, (also runs Saturday same times.) The 20th anniversary live production of "Christmas with the Crawfords" is a campy, done-in-drag, cult hit inspired by Joan Crawford and Mommie Dearest.

Saturday, Dec. 7

Calistoga Holiday Village and Lighted Tractor Parade, 9 a.m. (3-day event starts Friday night with the radio play of "It's a Wonderful Life." 7 p.m., 18th annual lighted tractor parade. Sunday is breakfast with Santa, fairgrounds Calistoga, 1133 Washington St.

Pink Martini, benefit show, Napa Valley Opera House. 7 p.m.

Merle Haggard, Uptown Theatre Napa, 8 p.m

Judd's Hill 8th Annual Hanukkah Hootenanny fundraiser, 12 to 2:30 p.m. Judd's Hill Winery, 2332 Silverado Trail, Napa. Benefits the Children's Health Initiative Napa County.
