VIDEO: “Weird Guy” Roams Napa Promoting Wine Auction

This all-local production supporting the upcoming Auction Napa Valley features Napa vintner Judd Finkelstein and a cast of dozens, including TV’s Arty “Party" Reyes, multiple sheriff’s deputies and ... a pirate.

Okay, I’m a little late to the party on this – the video already has 707 (hmm!) views on YouTube – but it was just yesterday that the Napa Valley Vintners hosted an invitational screening of Journey of the Weird Guy at Silver Oak in Oakville.

In just under five and a half minutes, well-known Napa vintner Judd Finkelstein roams the county promoting the upcoming Auction Napa Valley, the annual wine extravaganza that has raised many millions for local charities.

Among his stops are (where Finkelstein, wearing a giant toque, is thrown out by staff), (this time he’s taken away by sheriff’s deputies), and , where he joins popular host Arty “Party” Reyes and a scurvy-looking pirate.

The narrative may be picaresque, but the message is clear: Auction Napa Valley has raised more than $100 million for local charities, it’s coming up the first weekend in June and – as Finkelstein says in the video – although we’ll see a lot of extra traffic, “those cars are bringing people who will leave their money here.”

How many people and places do you recognize in Journey of the Weird Guy?
