Crash Victim's Memorial Fund to Benefit Napa Valley Vine Trail

The family of Richard Becker, who lost his life in a collision with a car while cycling Upvalley Aug. 18, has asked that donations in his memory be made to help build the 47-mile Napa Valley Vine Trail for non-motorized traffic.

The while riding Upvalley earlier this month was the latest in a series of blows to the North Bay bicycling community.

Earlier this year, by a car while bicycling home from work on the Silverado Trail, while cyclist Ken Prosser was hospitalized with serious injuries after he was in the Soscol Avenue bike lane.

Since mid-May, the death toll for cyclists has reached five in Sonoma County, where an elderly motorist is accused of seriously injuring a bicyclist after pursuing him onto a golf course and ramming him with his car earlier this month. (See on Sonoma Patch.)
