Iconic Napa Thrift Shop Celebrates $10 Million Raised for Schools, Scholarships, Nonprofits

Founded in Napa more than 70 years ago, Community Projects, Inc. has reached the $10 million mark in scholarships and donations to local schools and nonprofits. Celebrate at the iconic thrift shop Wednesday morning with refreshments and officials.

is Napa's oldest and best-known thrift shop, where locals find bargains on everything from designer clothes to well-used kitchenware.

It's also one of the county's longest-operating nonprofit organizations, staffed and run by volunteers to raise funds for local schools, students and nonprofits.

On Wednesday morning, Community Projects, Inc. celebrates reaching the $10 million amount in supporting school program projects, scholarships to Napa County school students and nonprofit agencies in Napa County, according to Kathryne Bandrowski of the group's executive board.

"At 9 a.m. Peter Mott, Councilman will be raising a banner to that effect and Mayor Jill Techel will be adding the top to the thermometer in our window indicating that we have met that mark," Bandrowski said.

"We have received proclamations from Mike Thompson, the Napa City Council and the Board of Supervisors and other recognitions," she added.

The July 25 ceremony will be followed by refreshments at the Franklin Street shop.
