Napa Valley Boy and Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts paid tribute Saturday to fallen veterans at the Veterans Home of California cemetery in Yountville.

The Scouts added flags early Saturday morning to the veterans' graves in preparation for Monday's memorial ceremony at 10 a.m.

Susan Heims, coordinator of the Memorial weekend events at the Veterans Home, advised that flowers donated by local florists will be added to the graves on Sunday, today.

Carljohn Meissenhalter, 11, of Troop 83 of Napa said that this was his fifth time placing flags on headstones for Memorial weekend. He said he also knew where four Medal of Honor vets were buried.

He added that Scout participants in the annual flag headstone placement ritual get credit toward Community Service hours.
