Mega Melon: 31-Pound Watermelon Harvested in Napa

This 31.5-pound Georgia Rattlesnake Watermelon was raised by the Kirtlink family in Napa. Do you have a bumper crop of fruit, vegetables, flowers or herbs this season? Share your photos with us.

Apart from its name, there's nothing slinky about the Kirtlink family's Georgia Rattlesnake Watermelon.

One Georgia Rattlesnake grown in their garden on Waverly Street in Napa weighed in at 31.5 pounds on harvest, according to Janet Kirtlink, who snapped this photograph of her husband Al and their son Rob hefting the mega-melon.

Georgia Rattlesnake is a "creepy name," but the heirloom seed from the Seed Bank in Petaluma produces large melons, Kirtlink said: "I couldn't lift it."
