Napa Valley's Fourth of July festivities actually begin on Wednesday, July 3, with the opening of the five-day Napa County Fair in Calistoga.

The fair includes a full menu of music, booths, rides and events. For a schedule, see CelebrateNapaValley.com.

Also Wednesday, Silverado Country Club and Resort will have their annual fireworks at about 9:30 p.m. The club asks that attendees do not bring food or drinks to the event. Blankets and chairs, however, are welcome.

Of course, the main event for many people is the  City of Napa 4th of July Spectacular, starting with a 10 a.m. parade in downtown Napa, activities for kids at Veterans Park on the Napa River starting at 12 noon, and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. on the river.

Excitement is building rapidly for Napa Valley's Fourth of July festivities.

By Monday, scores of American flags had been added on the fence of Napa's 9/11 Memorial in time for tonight's fundraiser at 5:30 p.m. at Cole's Chop House

On Wednesday, July 3, Silverado Country Club and Resort will have their annual fireworks display at about 9:30 p.m.

Last but not least, Wednesday is opening day for the Napa County Fair in Calistoga. See CelebrateNapaValley.com for a schedule.

Gosh, it's almost here -- Fourth of July.
Who could imagine all these celebrations?

--July 3, Wednesday, St. Helena Community Band Concert, 5 p.m. Yountville Community Park. Bring chairs, picnic for outdoor event.

--July 3, Wednesday, fireworks, Silverado Country Club and Resort, 9:30 p.m. (please do not bring food or drinks).

--July 4, Thursday, City of Napa 4th of July Spectacular, 12 noon to 10 p.m., Veteran's Memorial Park, Napa. Highlights: Napa Sunrise Rotary Parade at 10 a.m.; Kids activities, starting 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Live performances begin 12 p.m. Notorious plays at 7 p.m.; fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

--July 4, Thursday, Silo's, free concert on Napa’s Riverfront along the plaza from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., featuring the band Black Rock Project. The band will be performing a mix of R&B, Rock n’ Roll, Soul, Blue s, Pop and more.

--July 6, Saturday, Carolyn Tillie Jewelry Trunk Show: Tomatoes, Sushi & Macarons, 3 to 7 p.m., Grand Hand Gallery, 1136 Main St., Napa.

FIREWORKS ALERT: The City of Napa reminds residents that the sale, discharge or possession of fireworks, even the so-called “safe and sane” variety, is illegal in the cities of Napa, American Canyon and Calistoga, the Town of Yountville, and all unincorporated areas of Napa County.

Firecrackers, bottle rockets, Roman candles and other devices that explode, move along the ground, or travel through the air are classified as dangerous fireworks and are banned throughout the State of California.

Fireworks found in the city will be confiscated and persons found using or possessing fireworks may be issued a citation. This warning also applies to fireworks purchased elsewhere and brought into Napa.
