Ride With Napa Bike This Sunday

Special ride starts 9:30 a.m. in south Napa and travels the Carneros area to Sonoma Plaza.

BY NAPA BIKE

This Sunday, Sept. 22, join members of the Napa Bike Board on a fun ride from Napa through the beautiful Carneros region to Sonoma Plaza.

It's a perfect way to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox with a casual ride on some of the most beautiful back roads in Napa and Sonoma Counties.

The ride starts at 9:30 a.m. from the Imola Park & Ride lot on Golden Gate Drive, just across the street from the CHP station. The roads have some inclines (600 feet over the route) and the pace will be leisurely, taking about 2 hours to cover the 18 miles to the Plaza. Here's the ride map.

For those who want to make sure they earn their lunch, there is an optional add-on ride that will take you to 'The Lost Corner of Napa County', only accessible on public roads through Sonoma. This adds about 8 miles and another 900 feet of climbing in a step little pitch into Lovall Valley. Here's the map for the optional part of the ride.

The ride is free, but unsupported, so please be prepared with water and tubes, and do bring along some cash for lunch. Some of the choices for lunch are highlighted on the ride map.

We'll figure lunch out by the time we get to the Bear Flag memorial in the northeast corner of the plaza.

And some folks may take the Cavedale shortcut back to Napa (ouch!).

Hope to see you then!
