Unlike other parts of the country, Black Friday shopping was not the frenzied experience the day after Thanksgiving in Napa.

The parking lot at the Napa Premium Outlets was barely half full at 9 a.m., but there were shoppers everywhere including downtown Napa, Walmart, North Napa and both Target Stores.

In Yountville, meanwhile, workers were setting up tents and exhibits for "Yountville Festival of Lights" from 2 to 6 p.m. today.

Many downtown Napa businesses will participate in "Small Business Saturday" tomorrow. Also, the Napa Christmas Parade is at 5 p.m. Saturday starting at First and School streets.

A very busy place on Friday was Steve's Trees on California Boulevard off Trancas Street in north Napa.

Steve Arampatzis has operated Steve's Trees for some 28 years at various Napa locations, including Soscol Avenue in Napa. His staff was busy retrieving, preparing the trees, adding netting and loading onto vehicles and trucks.

There is also free popcorn and candy canes. For some families, picking a tree at Steve's Trees and other long time Napa Valley tree farms and lots has been a long time tradition.

He advised that some 2,500 to 3,500 various Christmas trees will find new homes for the holidays.

Steve's Trees will be open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily.

The Napa Valley Wine Trolley is operating in downtown Napa this holiday season including Holiday Light Tours of historic Victorians. For more information, napavalleywinetrolley.com
