Roger Ebert: RIP

Roger Ebert dead at 70

It's hard to explain the impact of the late Roger Ebert (winner of the Pulitzer Prize) and his already deceased fellow film critic Gene Siskel before the age of cable TV and the internet. Their weekly half hour show was a part of my life and others for 30 years as they reviewed everything from major Hollywood blockbusters to small and obscure films with an equally critical eye. And like two guys who both wanted to be the top dog at what they did in the same town of Chicago they could get in some really interesting discussions and arguments over a movie.

Check out the Blue Velvet review linked to this post as an example of what I am talking about. Watching these clips is like time traveling.
