What's Free and Cheap This Weekend

What is to be done? We answer the weekly question with some tips to free local events from our calendar, where you can find out what's happening all over town and add your own events as well.

Valentine's Day is swiftly approaching. Wouldn't it be nice to have your gift-giving needs covered a week in advance—while helping a local school make a difference in earthquake-ravaged Haiti?

Friday from 3 to 5 p.m., shop for handcrafted heart-themed treasures in a range of prices at 's annual taking place at the Blue Oak Middle School campus, 1271 Hayes Street in Napa. Admission is free, but just see if you can resist buying something for your Valentine—the proceeds will help Blue Oak support a school construction project in Haiti.

It's another red-letter Saturday for families with small children: is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at , 3299 Claremont Way, Napa. Play on-site, check out toys for up to a month or do both: It's all free.

Older kids of all ages who want to have fun and burn calories on what looks to be another gorgeous Napa day can take part in the weekly, starting at noon Saturday. If you don't have a hoop of your own, the Napa Hoopers will lend you one and show you the ropes, uh, hoops.
