To CIA Grads: 'There is Nothing More Important Than Your Reputation'

Restaurateur Ralph Brennan speaks to Culinary Institute of America graduates.

Ralph Brennan, one of the culinary industry's most talented and respected hospitality professionals, spoke last week to students graduating from The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone.

In his address, Brennan outlined the core values that have helped make his company, The Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group, a successful business. One of these core values is honesty and personal integrity.

"There is nothing more important than your reputation," said Brennan. "When you walk out of here you will begin to find your reputation. People will evaluate you based on the decisions you make and the way you treat other people."

Brennan encouraged the 48 culinary and baking & pastry AOS degree graduates to remember the golden rule and to do the right thing, even when no one is looking.

A third-generation restaurateur, Brennan also celebrated the graduation of his own son in the class, Patrick Brennan, who will now begin working with The Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group.

The business includes five restaurants in and around New Orleans: Red Fish Grill, Ralph's on the Park, Café b, Heritage Grill, and Café NOMA. The group also includes Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen and Jazz Express located in the Disneyland Resort, and Ralph Brennan's Catering & Events.

In addition, Brennan is a co-owner of Mr. B's Bistro and Commander's Palace in New Orleans and Brennan's of Houston.
