Student Arrested for Bomb Hoax at Napa High School

The arrested teen initially "found" the threatening note in the girls' bathroom, police said.

An 18-year-old Napa student was arrested today for allegedly alerting administrators at New Technology High School of a bomb threat -- a ruse police claim she orchestrated, complete with "finding" a threatening note.

Laura C. Peralta was taken into custody this morning on the 1100 block of Lisa Court on charges of suspected criminal threats and filing a false bomb report, according to the Napa Police Department

At noon on Tuesday, New Technology staff notified Napa police that a written bomb threat was turned in by student Peralta, indicating that a bombing was going to take place March 12 on the campus.

Peralta claimed she found the note in the girls' school bathroom, police said.

With assistance of the school staff, officers investigated the case, safety-cleared the campus and determined Peralta was the suspected mastermind and author of the note.

Today, as a precaution, explosive-detection dogs and handlers from Travis AFB, with the assistance of Napa Police School Resource Officers, inspected the campus prior to the start of school. No explosive materials were located.

Peralta, meanwhile, was arrested without incident at her residence, police said.
