New Tech High Students Win 3rd Place in National Student-Cam Contest

BIG win for these kids! More than 4,800 entries submitted nationwide.

New Technology High School students Crysta Tim, Nicolo Bacialli and Theon Peters last week were awarded third prize in the National 2014 C-Span Student Cam competition for their documentary entitled “Protect the Electives.”

More than 4,800 students in 46 states and Washington, DC sent a total of 2,355 entries to C-SPAN this year.

Videos were evaluated by a panel of educators and C-SPAN representatives based on the thoughtful examination of the competition’s theme, quality of expression, inclusion of varying sides of the documentary’s topic, and effective incorporation of C-SPAN programming.

The New Tech students won a $750 cash prize in a special school assembly, and the C-Span educational bus was be on hand for students.

 The annual competition is sponsored by the C-SPAN Education Foundation.
