800-Plus Grads at Napa Valley College Commencement May 31

Napa Valley College will award 807 degrees and certificates at its 70th commencement ceremony on the evening of May 31.

The commencement ceremony will take place in the Napa Valley College Gymnasium beginning at 7:30 p.m. 

Graduate check-in starts at 6  p.m. in the Quad near the NVC Bookstore.  The ceremony will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Gymnasium.

 Admission tickets will be required of all guests. For more details, please refer to the Commencement 2013 website at www.napavalley.edu/commencement.

This year’s Commencement Valedictory speakers are Shanice Watts of Vallejo and Ryan Reynolds of Benicia (photos attached).

Both were selected from a highly competitive pool of student applicants seeking to address this year’s graduates at Commencement.

Shanice, a 2009 graduate of Vintage HS in Napa, will receive her degree in Chemistry with a 3.81 GPA from NVC and will transfer to UC Berkeley this fall as a Chemistry/Pre-Med major after participating in the prestigious Health Career Opportunity Program at Stanford University this summer.

She plans to attend to medical school and become a pediatrician and has received numerous scholarships from the NVC Foundation.

Ryan will receive his degree from NVC in Mathematics with a 4.0 GPA and transfer to UC Davis in the fall to major in Mathematics after his wedding this summer. He plans to pursue a PhD in Mathematics in order to conduct research and teach math as a profession.

He also received multiple scholarships from NVC
