Jack in the Box Takes Shape on Trancas

Construction continues on the new, larger Jack in the Box restaurant next door to the Trancas post office in north Napa.

The new north Napa Jack in the Box is still just a box with no Jack inside, but the day is drawing closer when the expanded fast-food eatery will reopen for 24/7 service.

The corporate site for Jack in the Box, which has more than 2,200 locations in 19 states, still lists its 1641 Trancas Street location as open for business.

But the restaurant, is now only a plywood shell under construction.

When completed, the expanded restaurant will offer dining in as well as drive-through and take-out service.

However, its return will not restore the parking spaces formerly used for years by patrons of the neighboring Trancas Post Office: Jack in the Box has taken its parking lot back for good.
