This pipeline replacement project will improve the safety and integrity of the natural gas system serving customers in the community.  Upgrades will include the installation of a new plastic two-inch and six-inch distribution pipeline, located along Washington Street between Land Lane and Mulberry Street.

Much of the construction work will take place in the northbound lane on Washington Street, resulting in some traffic impacts but no detours. PG&E crews will safely route traffic around construction and make every effort to minimize traffic in the area.

Throughout the project, some gas services may be affected for a limited period of time. PG&E will notify customers individually in advance of any service interruptions.

Once the new pipe is installed, PG&E will pressure test the line before placing it in service. Following standard safety practices, crews may vent natural gas throughout the project as needed.

As PG&E vents the pipe, the smell of natural gas and the sound of venting may be noticeable to nearby homes and businesses, depending on wind direction.

The natural gas will quickly dissipate into the atmosphere and will not be harmful; however, PG&E encourages anyone who has concerns about natural gas odors in or around their home or business to call us at 1-800-743-5000.
