Yamada Sets Hearing Wednesday in Napa on State Hospital Safety

Hearing will be 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 9 at Napa Valley College.

State Assemblywoman Mariko Yamada, D-4th District, will hold a hearing Wednesday on state hospital safety.

The public information session will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at Napa Valley College, Little Theatre, Rm. 1231, 2277 Napa Vallejo Hwy. Napa

Yamada, chair of the Assembly Select Committee on State Hospital and Developmental Center Safety, will join other committee members and panelists in sharing information with the public.

The theme will be “State Hospital Safety in the Balance: Changes and Challenges for the 21st Century.”

·         Linda Monahan -President, Napa Chapter of the California Association of Psychiatric Technicians

·         Keith Caldwell Napa County Supervisor, District Five

·         Representatives of State Hospital Employees

·         Public Safety Experts

The hearing will explore the behavioral and safety ramifications of a shift throughout the state hospital system toward housing an increasingly acute and criminal population.

Panelists drawn from public safety, behavioral health experts and hospital staff will provide testimony in order to help lawmakers identify policy remedies for addressing the changes and challenges of 21st Century state hospital safety.
