VIDEO: The Joys of an Older Cat

Our Pet of the Week is Loli, a loveable 10-year-old longhair.

Cat lovers know that well-cared-for felines can live a long time. It is not unusual for a cat to live 15 years or longer with a good quality of life.

Older cats can be very affectionate, personable and a joy to have around. Such is the case with Loli, the 10-year-old spayed female longhair that is our pet of the week.

Loli was surrendered to the when her owners moved and could not take her with them. Being a long hair, Loli requires grooming which is fine with her, as she loves being brushed and purrs loudly at the mere site of the brush. According to shelter staffer Angela Creech, Loli’s previous owner said she loves other animals (cats and dogs), and people.

Loli has had her claws removed, so she needs to be an indoor cat. This is also fine with her as she is clean, housebroken and very comfortable in a lap or in a nice carpeted kitty condo.
