Touching the Twin Towers: 9/11 Steel Comes to Napa
In this photoessay by two Napa photographers, city residents give a hero's welcome to the steel beams from the World Trade Center, shipped here to become the heart of a 9/11 memorial downtown.
On Saturday, Napa welcomed two trucks loaded with steel beams retrieved from the wreckage of the Twin Towers after they were destroyed on 9/11.
A motorcade escorted the beams from the outskirts of town to artist Gordon Huether's studio on Monticello Road, where the sculptor will incorporate the World Trade Center relics into a 9/11 memorial to be installed in downtown Napa.
