Register: Police Sue Napa

The police officers' association claims the city violated its charter by placing the personnel department under the authority of a city office.

The labor association representing Napa police officers is suing the over its newly-created human resources department, according to a report in the .

Reporter Chantal M. Lovell writes that the Napa Police Officers’ Association filed a complaint in Napa Superior Court Tuesday.

The lawsuit claims the city violated its charter by placing the personnel department under the authority of a city office, rather than the independent civil-service commission approved by voters in 1964, according to Lovell’s report.
