New Veterans Wall to be Dedicated Friday at Monticello Cemetery

Active duty military, veterans and the public are invited to join trustees and staff of the Monticello Public Cemetery District on Friday, May 24, as they inaugurate the cemetery’s new Veterans Wall, which honors the veterans who are buried in the cemetery.

The names of the cemetery’s 42 veterans are inscribed on the wall, which was donated by CeCe Short, a member of the MPCD Advisory Committee, who donated her own money and organized fundraisers to pay for the memorial.
Short will be on hand along with District Manager Steven Lederer and Bill Dodd of the Napa County Board of Supervisors and the MPCD Board of Trustees to cut the ribbon on the wall. Veteran organizations also are invited to join the ceremony.

“What a wonderful way to recognize these people who have given of themselves to serve our country,” Dodd said. “I’m honored to be a part of the of the celebration.”

The ceremony will take place at Monticello Public Cemetery, located just west of the Senior Center at 4380 Spanish Flat Loop Road near Lake Berryessa, on Friday, May 24, at 3:30 p.m.

No RSVP is required. However, if veterans would like to be recognized at the event, please contact Carlos Solorio at (707) 259-8603 for more information.
