Napa County to Get New Planning Director

Pete Parkinson is coming out of retirement to take over department following resignation of previous director

Napa County Department of Planning has hired a new interim director.

Pete Parkinson, a former planning director for Sonoma County who led that county’s permit and resource management department for 11 years, is set to start in Napa on October 21, the Press Democrat is reporting.

Parkinson is a temporary hire after Director Hillary Gitelman resigned last month. Parkinson, who already collects a Sonoma County pension of just under $105,000 a year, will be paid $81.24 an hour, according to the Press Democrat.
