Victim ID'd in Fatal Crash with Napa Driver
The 32-year-old man was walking in a bicycle lane on Arnold Drive in Sonoma County when he was struck and killed by a vehicle driven by a Napa man. CHP released the victim's name today. Reported by Bay City News Service.
The California Highway Patrol has identified the while walking in a bicycle lane Thursday afternoon as 32-year-old Pedro Velez-Hernandez.
Velez-Hernandez, a Boyes Hot Springs resident, also went by the name Juan Velez-Hernandez, but his family at the scene said he used the name Pedro, CHP Officer Garrett Ray said.

Thornton Bunch Jr., 74, of Napa, was driving a 2004 Toyota Prius north on Arnold Drive just south of Grove Street in unincorporated Sonoma County near Sonoma around 3 p.m., CHP Officer Garrett Ray said.
For some reason, Bunch allowed the Toyota to travel into the bike lane and strike Velez-Hernandez.

The Toyota then continued through a wood fence and into the yard of a residence, and Velez-Hernandez's body was found in the yard, Ray said.
The Sonoma County coroner's office said he was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:05 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
The cause of the collision is under investigation, Ray said.
