UPDATED: Tuesday, Jul 1, 4:30 p.m.

A vegetation fire in the Pope Valley area of Napa County east of Calistoga and St. Helena has rapidly spread to 500 acres and mandatory evacuations of the Berryessa Estates subdivision are in effect, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said.

Evacuations also are in effect on Snell Valley Road to the Lake County line. The fire was 10 percent contained as of shortly after 3:30 p.m. Evacuees are being directed to Pope Valley School in Pope Valley and Middletown High School in Lake County, Cal Fire spokeswoman Stacie McCambridge said.

Five structures have been damaged since the fire was reported at 12:08 p.m. in the 7800 block of Butts Canyon Road, McCambridge said. Butts Valley, Snell Valley and Aetna Springs roads are closed.

The Lake and Napa County fire departments, the California Highway Patrol and the Napa County Sheriff's Office have also responded to the blaze.

A 300-acre vegetation fire in the Pope Valley area of Napa County has prompted mandatory evacuations, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said.

The rapidly burning, uncontained fire east of Calistoga and St. Helena started at 12:08 p.m. and mandatory evacuations have been ordered from the west side of the 7800 block of Butts Canyon Road to north of Snell Valley Road, Cal Fire spokeswoman Karen Stasko said.

Residents are being asked to go to Pope Valley School.

Five structures have been threatened but have not been reported as burned, Stasko said at about 2 p.m.

Butts Canyon Road is closed between Snell Valley and Aetna Springs roads.

The Lake and Napa County fire departments, the California Highway Patrol and the Napa County Sheriff's Office have also responded to the blaze.

Cal Fire is fighting a 200-acre vegetation fire in the Pope Valley area of Napa County this afternoon. 

The fire was reported at 12:08 p.m. in the 7800 block of Butts Canyon Road and some residents have been evacuated, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said. 

Butts Canyon Road is closed between Snell Valley and Aetna Springs roads. 

The Lake and Napa County fire departments, the California Highway Patrol and the Napa County Sheriff's Office have also responded to the blaze.
