Drug Bust Nabs 60 Pounds of Pot in Horse Trailer

A Napa man was arrested for allegedly trying to sell marijuana out of his horse trailer in Benicia

An undercover drug buy went very wrong for the seller after drug agents found about 60 pounds of pot in a horse trailer he was towing behind his vehicle.

About 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, undercover Napa Special Investigation Bureau drug agents and Benicia Police officers met at a Benicia parking lot with alleged drug dealer Lionel Salinas of Napa to make an arranged drug sale of 30 pounds of marijuana, according to a Napa County Sheriff’s press release.

Instead of getting the cash for the pot, Salinas was taken into custody on alleged drug charges, the press release said.

A search of the horse trailer, which had a horse inside, agents and officers found an additional 30 pounds of pot separated into 2 pound packages for sale, the press release stated, adding, they also found a set of brass knuckles.

Salinas was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale and possession of an illegal weapon.
