UPDATE: Bodies Found at Rutherford Marijuana Operation

Two bodies were found in a marijuana growing operation in west Napa county; sheriff's office investigation at least a week old.

The Investigations Bureau received information that there were possibly dead bodies at a marijuana growing operation, concealed on private property, in the rural hills west of Rutherford, California.

On July 1, 2011, Napa Special Investigations Bureau agents familiar with the area located the marijuana growing operation, containing approximately 3000 immature plants and two bodies, both male.

The bodies had been dead for an undetermined time. The identity of the decedents has not been confirmed, and the deaths are being investigated as homicides by the Napa County Major Crimes Investigation Team and numerous outside agencies.

On July 6, 2011, agents with the Napa Special Investigations Bureau eradicated the marijuana operation. This large scale marijuana grow is believed to be part of a larger Mexican drug trade organization. The grow was operating on private property without the property owner's knowledge or consent.
