Two Arrested, Third Sought in Burglary, Car-Ramming

An "alert neighbor" had his car rammed several times as he sought to prevent suspected burglars from stealing a vehicle from a home on Silverado Trail: An update from the Napa County Sheriff's Office. Arrest information does not indicate convictions.

Napa County sheriff's deputies have caught up with two of three suspected burglars who reportedly fled on foot this morning after trying to ram their way out of their alleged victim's garage in a stolen car, according to a statement release shortly after 10 a.m. by Captain Tracey Stuart of the :

On 1/3/12 at about 6 pm, a neighbor reported that a home in the 5100 block of Silverado Trail had been burglarized, within the past 24 hours.

The owners of the home were out of state and the neighbor had been keeping an eye on the residence.

Numerous items were stolen, including the home owner’s 2007 Toyota Solara.

A separate vehicle, a gold colored Buick,  that had been reported stolen out of Vallejo, was recovered across the street from the burglarized residence and was believed to be driven to the location by the burglars.

On 1/4 /12 at about 7:10 am, the same alert neighbor saw the garage door of the residence open.

He drove to the garage and discovered that the home owners second (not stolen) vehicle was in the garage running. The neighbor blocked the vehicle from leaving.

There were three suspects inside the vehicle and they started ramming the neighbor’s car, that was blocking them in.

The neighbor yelled for another neighbor to call 911 and they did. The neighbor’s car was rammed several times while he was inside the car. The three suspects then abandoned the car and fled on foot.

A perimeter was quickly established by Sheriff’s Deputies, , and .

Deputies were searching the area, when a resident on Washington Street near Hoffman Lane (south of Yountville) called in a sighting of two male suspects.

A deputy and Napa Police officer responded to look for the two men and saw them go into a drainage ditch near Hoffman Lane, east of SR29. The two men were detained and subsequently arrested.

The third suspect is still at large, according to Stuart, who said the names of the arrested men and the potential charges against them were not yet available because they were still being interviewed by detectives.
