CHP: Driver Arrested with 7-8 Pounds of Pot in Napa County

A Sunnyvale man with a carload of marijuana was taken into custody near St. Helena, according to Napa CHP.

A Sunnyvale man took an unexpected visit to the Napa County jail after a passing motorist called authorities to report a suspicious Toyota SUV on Silverado Trail.

The tip resulted in a cache of 7 to 8 pounds of marijuana and the arrest of Victor Ray Mikkelsen, 32, on Tuesday afternoon.

Mikkelsen, 32, was driving northbound on the Trail, north of Highway 128 near St. Helena, when CHP Officer Jack Kemper spotted his vehicle.

The SUV matched the description of the one reported by dispatch to be on the lookout for because it could be involved in drug activity, CHP Officer Garrett Ray said.

“When officer Kemper stopped the SUV, he could smell a strong aroma of marijuana inside the car,” he said.
