Suspects Arrested for Bicycle, Auto Thefts

Arrest information from the City of Napa Police Department does not indicate convictions.

An Adrian Street resident got some help from the neighbors Thursday night in detaining a pair of suspected thieves until arresting officers arrived, according to a shift activity log released by the .

The log identified the suspects in the 9:45 p.m. incident as 26-year-old Oscar Barbosa and 28-year-old Julian Ramos, both of Napa, and continued:

Ramos was found standing just inside the victim’s back door on Adrian Street.

He was detained by the resident/victim and two other neighbors. 

The victim discovered that three bikes were missing from the yard.

Officers went to Ramos’s friend’s house Oscar Barbosa and located one of the bikes next to Barbosa’s residence and the other two in his van.

Barbosa and Ramos were arrested and booked at the on suspicion of burglary and receiving stolen property, according to the police log.

According to Saturday evening's shift activity log, police arrested a suspected auto thief they say altered an ignition key in order to make off with a stolen vehicle:

On 12/17/11 about 1947 hours an NPD Officer located a vehicle that had been reported stolen in the area of Park Avenue/Jefferson Street.

The driver/suspect, Jose Camarillo, 24 years old of Napa, pulled over and fled from the vehicle on foot.

Camarillo was taken into custody a short distance from the vehicle.

Camarillo used a “shaved key” to steal the vehicle.

Camarillo was also determined to have driven under the influence of alcohol.

Camarillo was booked at the jail on suspicion of a series of charges including possession of stolen property and burglary tools/ resisting arrest and driving under the influence, according to police.
