Suspected Hit-Run Driver ID'd, Arrested

An SUV with a dragging bumper, along with its driver, were both identified by the victim of a reported hit and run, according to Napa police. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

If, as alleged, 34-year-old David Perkins was the motorist who caused a reported hit-and-run collision in downtown Napa Friday afternoon, police appear to have caught up with him before they knew about the crime.

According to information in a shift activity log released by the :

On 1-6-12 at approximately 1430 hours, officers observed a green Chevy Blazer driving recklessly in the area of Franklin Street and Pearl Street with its front bumper hanging on the ground.

Officers made a traffic stop and contacted the driver, David Perkins (34 yrs). During the contact, a citizen reported being the victim of a hit and run collision in the area of Pearl Street and Main Street.

The citizen described the suspect vehicle as a green Chevy Blazer. The citizen was later able to identify Perkins and his vehicle as being the responsible party in the collision.

Perkins was placed under arrest for hit and run, violation of probation, and driving on a suspended driver’s license, according to Napa police.
