Suspected DUI Driver Flees Crash that Injured Spouse, Napa Police Say

Melissa Lucero allegedly was driving under the influence and left her husband with broken bones when she fled to their home after crashing into a tree, Napa police said. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

A 30-year-old Napa woman was arrested early Friday on suspicion of DUI after allegedly crashing her car into a tree, then leaving the scene of the accident while her husband remained in the vehicle with a broken collarbone and hand, according to an arrest summary from the City of Napa Police Department:

On 12-7-12 at approximately 0204 hours, NPD officers responded to a traffic collision involving a single vehicle into a Pine tree on Bryan St at Laurel.

Officers were advised the female driver left the scene on foot and a passenger was with the vehicle that was injured.

Melissa Lucero had been driving the vehicle and fled to her residence on Homewood Ave leaving her husband Justin Lucero in the vehicle injured.

Lucero was admitted to QV Hospital with a broken clavicle and broken hand.

Melissa was identified by a witness as the driver and also admitted to being the driver. Melissa was arrested and booked at NCDC.
