Suspect Gone After Possible Attempted Burglary in Angwin

Man seen walking out of the driveway of a neighboring home.

A possible attempted burglary suspect in Angwin Saturday was gone by the time police arrived, Napa County Sheriff's Capt. Leroy Anderson said.

Anderson said neighbors in the 400 block of College Avenue called the sheriff's office at 11:20 a.m. Saturday to report a suspicious person leaving the home of a neighboring family, who were away for the weekend.

Anderson said the neighbors saw a man walking out of the driveway, but he disappeared on foot and was gone by the time deputies arrived. Deputies did not find any evidence of a break-in and nothing was missing from the home, Anderson said.

Anderson said the Angwin call, while appreciated, came in 20 minutes after the  sighting.

"The neighbors were doing the right thing to call," he said. "(But) it's always better if they can call right away -- in cases like that, timing is everything."
