Suspect at Large after Attempt on Bank

Nobody was hurt in the late-morning robbery attempt at the Umpqua Bank in Bel Aire Plaza. Police are investigating.

Napa police are looking for a robber who may have had a gun when attempting to rob a north Napa bank Wednesday morning.

Manager Michelle Bair of in Bel Aire Plaza said she was not allowed to say whether the suspect was successful in the late-morning attempt to rob the bank.

But "everybody's okay," said Bair, who directed Umpqua customers to the bank's Oxbow District branch on Soscol Avenue.

The bank remained closed into Wednesday afternoon as police investigated the robbery attempt, using lifting tape to search for fingerprints on the exit bar of the bank's front door and interviewing employees.

Witnesses told police the robber wore a hat, glasses, jeans, tennis shoes and a long-sleeved shirt.
