Supect Identified in Fatal Napa Stabbing

Francisco Javier Deleon, 31, was arrested about 4 a.m. Saturday in Fairfield and booked on suspicion of fatally stabbing Robin Ward, 51, in an altercation on Almond Avenue sometime Thursday, according to Napa police.

The man arrested early Saturday in Fairfield and booked on suspicion of killing 51-year-old Robin Ward in Napa has been identified by Napa police as Francisco Javier Deleon, 31.

Napa police Capt. Jeff Troendly said Deleon, a parolee and transient who had been "couch surfing" (staying with friends and relatives), was visiting a family member at one of three residences on the same property in the 100 block of Almond Street Thursday.

Deleon and Ward, who lived in another one of the three homes, became involved in an altercation and Ward was stabbed, Troendly said.

Ward's body was found inside his home Friday afternoon by another resident of the property, Troendly said. Arriving EMTs at first thought Ward's death was a medical issue, but soon saw he had been stabbed.

Investigators interviewed witnesses and traced Deleon to Fairfield, where he was arrested at about 4 a.m., Troendly said.
