4,300 acres - 45% contained  

"Difficult access has continued to challenge firefighters, however favorable weather conditions today led to a successful burning operation on the Lake County side of the fire.

"Fire Crews have made significant progressing constructing handlines.

"A full repopulation of the Berryessa Estates was completed at 2 p.m., in addition to the opening of Butts Canyon Road from James Creek Road to Snell Valley Road.

Firefighting resources will remain in the area, please use caution when driving in the affected areas."

Evacuations have been lifted this afternoon in parts of Napa County as firefighters continue to fight a 4,300-acre vegetation fire in Butts Canyon west of Lake Berryessa, Cal Fire officials said.

Residents are being allowed back into homes in the Berryessa Estates subdivision and along parts of Butts Canyon Road. The fire remains 30 percent contained, Cal Fire officials said as of 4 p.m.

There was no information immediately available on how many structures are still threatened by the fire.

The fire has spread into Lake County and an evacuation advisory remains in effect for residents in Lake County on Butts Canyon Road from the county line to Langtry Estates.

Butts Canyon Road north of the fire remains closed, fire officials said.

Since breaking out shortly after noon Tuesday, the fire has destroyed two residences and seven outbuildings. More than 1,000 fire personnel have responded to the vegetation fire.

The California Department of Insurance is reminding residents in Napa County who had to evacuate that they may be eligible for reimbursement for additional living expenses due to the evacuations.

The department is advising residents to check their insurance policies to see if additional living expenses during natural disasters are covered.

The coverage will typically include costs associated with food and housing, furniture rental, relocation, storage and extra transportation, according to the department.
