Smoke from 1,200-Acre "Mill Fire" in Colusa County Seen from Napa

It would take about three and a half hours to drive from Napa to the Mendocino State Forest in Colusa County. But some Napans have noticed the column of smoke from a wildfire there that has reportedly consumed more than 1,200 acres. Have you seen it?

 

Smoke from a wildfire in Colusa County has been visible from Napa. Have you seen it? 

According to the Lake County News, the "Mill Fire," near the Mill Valley Campground in the Mendocino State forest, "was sparked on Saturday afternoon, and remained the focus of an aggressive firefighting effort on Sunday."

The fire had consumed about 1,200 acres by Sunday night, according to the report.

I heard the colusa/mendocino fire is burning over the area that years ago, where the gold mines were, dinomite was burried in that area and some of it has exploded. Is this true????

Carol, I haven't seen anything about explosions, but here is a recent update saying the fire has grown to more than 13,000 acres and crossed into Glenn County: http://www.appeal-democrat.com/news/fire-117716-fires-schweitzer.html

They have moved the full containment day from 7/13 to 7/20 only 38% containment today. report as of 10:27 AM 7/12/12 SXA strike team reports they are now on a 24hr shift and willl be supporting a firing op today off a dozer line. They report some interior torching still occuring. Cal Fire web site stating fire is 17,300ac 38% contained. Operating in a Unified Command with USFS.
