House Fire "Difficult to Extinguish"

Firefighters' jobs weren't over when the sun went down Thursday. By Bay City News Service, photos by Cathy Felder and Robert Peebles, Jr..

Firefighters continued to battle a structure fire on Atlas Peak Road, near the Silverado Country Club, outside of Napa Thursday night, a Cal Fire
spokesman said.

The blaze was reported at a home at 2379 Atlas Peak Road at around 5:30 p.m., Cal Fire Division Chief Dave Shew said.

The surrounding the house. It burned less than an acre of vegetation before firefighters extinguished that blaze, he said.

Firefighters were still battling the fire within the house Thursday night. Shew said the "unusual design and construction" of the house has made the fire very difficult to extinguish.

The house's occupants were not at home when the fire broke out and no injuries have been reported.
