Sheriff Seeks Dog that Bit Woman at Berryessa

If the dog is not found, the victim of the bite may have to undergo treatment to prevent rabies, according to the Napa County Sheriff's Office. The dog attack occurred Oct. 14 in the Steele Canyon Road-Berryessa Highlands area.

Napa County authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a "black or dark multi-colored Chihuahua mix" that bit a woman Monday in the area of Steele Canyon Road and Berryessa Highlands.

The bite was not considered to be serious, according to an announcement (attached) from the Napa County Sheriff's Department Animal Services Bureau.

"The dog was at-large, after dark, and the owner of the dog is not known," according to the announcement.

Anyone with information about this dog or similar dogs in the area is asked to call the animal services bureau at (707) 253-4451.

If the dog and owner and not located soon, the victim of the bite may need anti-rabies treatment, authorities said.
