Search Continues for Fisherman Feared Drowned in Napa River

The Napa County Sheriff's Department Search and Rescue Team, California Highway Patrol Air Operations and the Coast Guard continue to search for Jose Ernesto Magano, 26, of San Francisco, who fell into the river while fishing Sunday morning.

The search continues for a 26-year-old fisherman who fell into the Napa River early Sunday, according to a news release from Capt. Tracey Stuart of the Napa County Sheriff's Office:

On 9/16/12, Cesar Rivera Moreno 11/3/80 (San Rafael resident) and Jose Ernesto Magana 2/17/86 (San Francisco resident) were fishing at Brazos Bridge, Green Island Road side, in Napa County. Magana fell into the water at approximately 2:44 am. Moreno, who does not know how to swim, called 911 for help. Detectives responded to the scene and spoke with a neighbor across the river who heard yelling and screaming in Spanish, and heard a splash in the water.

Napa Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, CHP Air Ops, and the Coast Guard are still searching for Magano.
