Reckless Driving, Backyard Disturbance Land Napans in Jail

A Napa man was taken into custody around 5:30 p.m., Thursday after leading a sheriff’s deputy on a chase in the area of Soscol and Imola avenues.

The incident started after the deputy saw a Honda Civic station wagon in the area driven erratically by a male, later identified as Robert Jacques, 53, of Napa, according to a Napa Police press release.

Jacques finally stopped the Honda in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 200 block of Soscol Avenue, police said.

When the deputy attempted to take Jacques into custody, he put up a fight. A Napa police officer responded as back up and helped the deputy handcuff Jacques, the press release said.

Because of his erratic driving and showing symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol, Jacques was arrested, police said.

Jacques was also found to be driving on a suspended drivers license and on probation for a prior DUI.

He was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections.

Drug bust

Napa police officers responded to a report of a disturbance about 11 p.m., Wednesday in the 1200 block of Dillon Drive, according to a Napa Police press release.

The officers found Nathan Hosking, 39, and Sarah Bess, 36, along with her 13-year-old son, in a trailer in the backyard of the residence.

Hosking and Bess consented to left officers and a K-9 search the trailer where police found suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and a smoking pipe, the press release said.

Hosking was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs. Bess was was cited and released on child endangerment.
