UPDATE: Napa Police Set Block Party for Aug. 6 'National Night Out'

Napa Sheriff's Office and Cal Fire will also run a National Night Out party in Yountville.

Napa Police Department will join other law enforcement agencies in Napa Valley and across the country for "National Night Out," a neighborhood block party.

Napa Police's party will be on Tuesday, Aug.6, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Target Parking Lot, 205 Soscol Ave. in Napa.

It’s an opportunity for the Napa community to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention, and neighborhood camaraderie.

While the one night is certainly not an answer to crime, drugs and violence, National Night Out represents the kind of spirit, energy and determination to help make our community a safer place year round. The night celebrates safety and crime prevention successes and works to expand and strengthen programs for the next 364 days.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and strengthens community spirit and police-community partnerships. For 30 years, National Night Out has been sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch.

Target has been a co-sponsor for the last seven years. National Night Out now involves over 37 million people and 15,000 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.

The Napa Police Department, Sheriff's Office, Fire Department, CHP, AMR Ambulance, DARE, the Salvation Army and other City and County Agencies will be involved in this free event. Event Activities will include Law Enforcement personnel, vehicles and other assets, a Bike Rodeo, Fire Engines, AMR Ambulance, Information booths, a 911 booth, Jump House, Outdoor Chalk Art Area, food and Giveaways.

National Night Out, a neighborhood block party on Aug. 6, will be observed locally from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Yountville Community Center, 6516 Washington St., Yountville.

The public is invited to attend the free event, sponsored by the Napa Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Yountville. The goal is to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and strengthens community spirit and police-community partnerships.

In addition to the Napa Sheriff's Office and the Town of Yountville, other participants are Cal Fire, Clinic Ole and the Napa County District Attorney’s Office.

The event will include law enforcement personnel and vehicles, Search & Rescue, Sheriff’s K-9, face-painting and a jump house. Clinic Ole will be accepting prescription drugs for disposal.

Snow cones, popcorn and cotton candy will be served.
